Planning
Visit a City : Gives a good foundation for planning. Has customizable itineraries and gives good suggestions to where and when to visit a place. Provides summaries and descriptions.
* Highly suggest asking people you know who has been to the city (/lived there/from there) you’re planning to visit. I find it most helpful when I ask locals for information.
Money Matters
Budget Your Trip : A site with an amazing city search system that breaks down average spendings per spending category (food, accommodation, transportation etc) for specific countries/cities.
Currency Converter (XE) : Real time currency conversion. Shows inflation rates from previous years, and predicts rates in the future.
Currency Converter (Google) : Real time currency conversion.
* Use these links before exchanging money as it will provide a good idea on how much you should be receiving. Also to prevent scammers.
Accommodation
Airbnb : Classic site used in major cities. Highly suggested if it is affordable as you can experience local sceneries.
Hostelworld : Budget friendly traveling option. Gives transparency on rating and details of hostels.
Couch Surfing : Personally haven’t used this site due to my physique, but if you’re comfortable with it I highly recommend. This site is popularly used by my fellow travel friends. Basically gives you free accommodation.
Transportation
Student Universe : Fantastic flight site for students. Gives students the biggest possible discounts for flights and travel. *must have a student e-mail.
Skyscanner : My favorite flight search site. No annoying pop-up sites like others. Actually shows cheap flights from anywhere. If you don’t know where to go yet, this is a good site to start searching with.
Ouigo (FRANCE) : Easy to follow train site for Europe area and shows the best deals. France based.
